On November 14, 2024, Children’s Day, a free dental camp was organized at
St. John of God Special School by the Government Dental College, Kottayam. The
event aimed to promote dental health and hygiene among children and provided
comprehensive dental check-ups, including preventive care and oral hygiene
education tailored to the needs of the students. A team of dentists and dental
students offered personalized consultations, raising awareness about the

On October 29, 2024, a General Medical Camp was held at St. John of God Special School for children, organized in partnership with SH Medical Centre, Nadgampadom. The camp aimed to provide essential medical care and support for the children. Dr. Jaleela H.B.A., a psychiatrist and rehabilitation physician, led the camp with a dedicated team of four other medical staff and nurses. Comprehensive medical check-ups and consultations were provided, ensuring the children received personalized care. Special Education hosted a memorable graduation ceremony for the 2022-2024
batch of B.Ed and D.Ed students. The event celebrated the achievements of
students specializing in special education. Dr. Sussamma George, a retired
principal and esteemed educator, was the chief guest for the ceremony. In her

Special Education celebrated the inauguration of its College Union for the
academic year 2024-2025 with a vibrant ceremony. The newly elected union
members were officially introduced, marking the start of a promising academic
year.Arathy was elected as the Chairperson, with Anjalo assuming the role of
Secretary. Fr. Flivins will serve as the Union Counselor, guiding the team
throughout the year. Libiya took on the position of Arts Secretary, Emmanue was
named Sports Secretary, and Emil was entrusted with the role of Treasurer. The
college community looks forward to the new union's leadership in fostering

the inauguration of a new shop as part of its Vocational Training Unit. The
initiative aims to provide hands-on training and skill development
opportunities for individuals with intellectual challenges, helping them become
more self-reliant. The new shop will showcase a variety of products crafted by
the trainees, highlighting their talents and hard work. This endeavor is a
crucial step towards enhancing vocational skills and promoting economic
independence for the beneficiaries of the centre. The inauguration was attended
by staff, trainees, and well-wishers, all celebrating this progressive move
towards empowerment and inclusion.
On September 3rd, St. John of God Centre celebrated Teachers' Day with great
enthusiasm. The event coincided with the Kottayam District Special Educators'
Meetup, bringing together educators committed to the development of
intellectually challenged individuals. The day was marked by a motivational
class led by Mrs. Obiya, inspiring educators with her words of wisdom. Several
engaging games and activities were organized for the teachers, fostering

St. John of God Special
School, a dedicated institution for intellectually disabled children,
organized school parliamentary election for the academic year 2024-2025 to give
students a sense of democracy and civic engagement. The election was held on
Friday, July 12, 2024, with positions contested for Head Boy, Head Girl,
General Secretary, Sports Captain, and Arts Club Secretary. The following
students were elected to these positions:

The results were officially
announced on Monday, July 22, by Mr. Dipu John, Principal of St. John of God
Special School. The elected members were officially instated in their
positions through a sashing ceremony presided over by Fr. Francis Mannaparampil,
Director of St. John of God Centre. During the ceremony, they took a solemn
pledge, underscoring their commitment to their new
responsibilities.
The entire election process, from
nominations, campaign activities, voting, and vote counting, was meticulously
coordinated by Mr. Jacob Pops, the Public Relations Officer of St. John of God
Centre. Throughout the election, the candidates received valuable guidance and
motivation from their class teachers and peers, whose support was crucial to
their success.
The school management and community

International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21st at St. John of God Special School, Velloor. With the collaboration of students from the St. John of God College of Special Education with the instructions of the Physical Education and Yoga Master Mr. Victor Lazar K The " Soorya Namaskar" of Yoga which consists of 12 different "Asanas" was done.
On June 10, 2024, St. John of God Special School warmly welcomed children with intellectual disabilities in a heartening ceremony. Presided over by Centre Director Fr. Francis Mannapparampil, the event was inaugurated by Pampady Panchayat President Mrs. Daly Roy. Panchayat member Mr. Anish Gramattam, P.T.A., and PAID members Shri. Sunny Joseph and Mrs. Susamma George extended their greetings. Ancy Joseph and School Principal Dipu John highlighted this year's theme, "Towards Families and Children," emphasizing the school's dedication to supporting both students and their families.
On June 7, 2024, the St. John of God Centre in Velloor, Kottayam, held a solemn blessing ceremony for its buildings, coinciding with the Feast of the Sacred Heart. The event, led by Director Fr. Francis Mannaparambil, began at 7:45 AM and concluded at 8:45 PM. The day-long blessing highlighted the spiritual significance of the occasion and reinforced the centre's commitment to its mission and community.
St. John of God Special School celebrated Environment Day with a focus on preserving the natural beauty of their campus. The event was led by Director Fr. Francis Mannaparambil, Principal Dipu John, P.R.O Jacob Pops, Social Worker Jewel, and the dedicated staff of the Vocational Training Centre. They were joined by the school's intellectually challenged children in an initiative to ensure the safety and growth of the trees and plants within the school grounds. The collaborative effort underscored the school's commitment to environmental stewardship and the importance of nature conservation.
The one day tour program for the staff of St. John of God
was held on 19th of May 2024. The journey started by 8.30 in the morning and one
of the team conducted the daily report, news and other activities inside the
bus. The first destination was Thattekkadu Bird Sanctuary which is situated
approximately 12 km from Kothamangalam, and it included an area of just under
25 km². Salim Ali, a renowned ornithologist, referred to this sanctuary as the
most abundant bird habitat in the Indian peninsula. After the lunch the team
went for a boat riding in “Bhoothathankettu” which is one of the beautiful
creation by God. The houseboat journey started in a normal way but later a
simple and cold touch of rain joined with the travel and it made memorable for
each and every person on board. After all the planned visits the team landed
back by 6.30 P.M.
The one-month programme for the staff of St. John of God Centre started on May 2nd 2024. The program started with the blessings of God which was coordinated by the center director Fr. Francis Mannaparambil, School Principal Mr. Dipu John, Public Relations Officer Mr. Jacob Pops, and Sr. Rincy the school Vice Principal. The first-day session was conducted by Mr. Francis from Kattappana on the topic "Spirituality". Till May 29 th different classes and activities are made by the management team as preparation for the academic year 2024- 2025.
