Dental Camp 2026

Dental Camp was conducted on Saturday, 28th February 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. A team of eight doctors from Government Dental College, Kottayam provided services including dental check-ups, cleaning, fillings, and tooth extractions. Severe cases were referred to the same institution for further treatment. Around 73 students benefited from the camp. The program was led by Dr. Mary Shimi, whose dedicated service greatly contributed to its success. The camp was well organized and ensured smooth coordination throughout the day. Students actively participated and cooperated during the procedures. Awareness was also given on maintaining proper oral hygiene and healthy habits. The initiative helped in identifying dental issues at an early stage. It also encouraged students to adopt better oral care practices. The support of the medical team was highly appreciated by the institution. The camp reflected a strong commitment towards promoting health and well-being among students.

Bhinnasheshi Kalolsavam – “Varnachirakukal 2026”

A day filled with colours, joy, and beautiful expressions…

Pampady Grama Panchayat organized “Varnachirakukal” on 24th February 2026, celebrating the unique talents of children with special needs.With inspiring words by Fr. Francis Mannaparampil and warm felicitation by Principal Dipu Sir, the day became even more meaningful.Dance, songs, colours, and smiles came together as our children shared their talents with confidence and happiness.

Republic Day Celebration 2026

Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St. John of God Centre on 26th January 2026, in collaboration with Mount Mary Public School. The programme began at 7:30 a.m. with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by a Republic Day rally and official events at 10.00am .

Students from Mount Mary Public School, the Special School, and the Special B.Ed. College came together to celebrate the occasion. Their enthusiastic participation and performances reflected the true spirit of unity, inclusion, and patriotism, making the celebration memorable and meaningful.

Share With Joy Prayer With Care

The “Share with Joy, Pray with Care” Birthday Charity Project, organized by the Cherupushpa Mission League Unit of St. Mary’s Church, Chicago, was conducted at St. John of God Centre, Pampady on 7th January 2026 evening.This beautiful gesture of love  brought prayer, compassion, and hope to our children. The small but meaningful gifts shared by the parishioners became a powerful expression of care and encouragement, touching the hearts of our children and staff alike.

Dinner With Tharavad

Dinner with Tharavad was conducted on 28th December 2025  at 7pm at Tharavad, bringing together around 250 people to joyfully celebrate Christmas and the New Year with our Tharavad residents. The evening witnessed the gracious presence of family members, siblings, and friends of  tharavad residents, creating an atmosphere of love, togetherness, and shared joy.His Excellency Mar George Madathikandathil, Bishop of the Kothamangalam Diocese, delivered the message. The occasion was further honoured by the presence of Provincial Bro. George OH, Former General Councillor Bro. Vincent OH, Director Fr. Francis Mannaparampil OH, School Principal Dipu John, College Principal Rittymol Mathew, PTA President Sunny Joseph, and PTA Vice President Susamma Baby. The gathering stood as a beautiful expression of unity, compassion, and community spirit, making the celebration truly meaningful for our Tharavad family.

Gloriya 2k25

Gloriya 2K25 was held at St. John of God Centre as part of the Christmas celebrations on 19th December 2025.The celebration was honoured by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Akhil Krishnan, Manager of Canara Bank, Manarcaud Branch. All the institutions under St. John of God Centre—including the Autism Centre, Special School, Special Education College, and Residential Homes—came together to celebrate Christmas unitedly. The occasion was marked by joyful gatherings, cultural expressions, and the exchange of Christmas gifts, reflecting the true spirit of love, sharing, and togetherness.

Blood Test Camp at St. John of God Centre

A Blood Test Camp was conducted in association with Neethi Medicals on 9th October 2025 at St. John of God Centre from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The camp was organized in a cordial and well-coordinated manner with the huge support of our staff to ensure the health and well-being of our students. Students from all hostels actively participated, showing great cooperation.

Convocation Ceremony of 2023–25 Special B.Ed Batch

The Convocation Ceremony for the 2023–25 batch of Special B.Ed students was held on 26th September 2025 from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm at St. John of God Special B.Ed College. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Thressiakutty Thomas as the Chief Guest. The event also celebrated the achievements of our students, with Miss Anusha Joshy securing the 2nd University Rank and Miss Grace Thaliyath securing the 4th University Rank. The function was attended by our Director, Rev. Fr. Francis Mannaparampil, along with the College Principal, College Vice Principal, Special School Principal, and Course Co-coordinator, who all joined in honouring the graduates on their special day. 

Harikrishnan Secures Gold at National Special Olympics

We are proud to announce that Harikrishnan Omanakuttan, student of St. John of God Special School, Pampady, has won gold medal in all three categories—Dead-lift, Squat, and Bench Press—at the National Special Olympics Powerlifting Championship held in Delhi from September 26th to 28th..Harikrishnan’s remarkable achievement reflects his hard work, perseverance, and the supportive learning environment provided by our school.

ENT MEDICAL CAMP 2025

An ENT Medical Camp was held at St. John of God Centre, Velloor on Thursday, 25th September 2025, in association with St. Mary’s Hospital, Manarcad. The camp was specially organized for disabled children and was led by Dr. Nithin Aniyan Thomas, providing free consultation and check-ups for ear, nose, and throat-related health issues. The program focused on early detection, expert guidance, and promoting better health and well-being

Onam Celebrations at St. John of God Centre

St. John of God Centre celebrated Onnichonam 2K25 with great joy and togetherness on August 26 and 27, 2025. The two-day festivities brought together all members of the Centre, including students and staff from the College, Special School, Residential Homes, and Autism Centre. The celebrations began on August 26 with traditional Onam games that filled the campus with excitement and cheer. On August 27, a festive meeting was held followed by a spirited Vadamvali (tug of war), which highlighted the unity and enthusiasm of the community. The programme beautifully reflected the spirit of Onam—harmony, joy, and inclusiveness—making it a memorable occasion for everyone at the Centre.

Day Scholars PTA Meeting

A Day Scholars PTA meeting was held at St. John of God Special School yesterday with the participation of 25 parents. The session began with an introductory address, followed by an interactive discussion. Key topics included Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme, Legal Guardianship, UDID, as well as various government insurance and pension programs. The meeting provided parents with valuable guidance and a platform to clarify their doubts regarding these schemes.

Independence Day

St. John of God Special School, Pampady, celebrated Independence Day on August 15 with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The celebration began with the flag hoisting, followed by a rally that spread the message of freedom and unity. Students presented a variety of cultural programmes, showcasing their talents and love for the nation. The guest of honour addressed the gathering, encouraging the students to uphold the values of independence and unity. The programme concluded with a salute to the nation and the distribution of sweets.

School COuncil Election 2025

The St. John of God Special School conducted its annual School Council Election today, fostering leadership and participation among students. Candidates from various classes actively campaigned and presented their ideas to peers and teachers. Students cast their votes in a democratic process, and the elected council will represent the student body for the academic year, working closely with staff to organize school events and activities. The event encouraged teamwork, responsibility, and the spirit of democracy within the school community. Head Boy - Harikrishnan Omanakuttan, Head Girl - Helen Johnson, General Secretary - Bibin Jacob, Arts Secretary - Liyon Shiji, Sports Secretary - Arjun Gireesh.

SOB Swimming Selection State Level

The Kerala State-Level Special Olympics swimming selection trials were held today, July 18, 2025, at the St. John of God Centre swimming pool. Athletes from various parts of the state participated enthusiastically in the event. Selections were based on overall timing and best performance across four swim styles—freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Rather than selecting winners for each individual stroke, the combined performance determined the qualifying athletes. The event reflected the spirit of inclusion, sportsmanship, and excellence that the Special Olympics movement stands for.

PTA Meeting and Digital Learning Program Inauguration

The PTA meeting for the academic year 2025–26 was held at Velloor St. John of God Special School. The principal of St. John of God Special School welcomed and extended greetings at the meeting. The institution's director, Fr. Francis Mannaparambil, presided over the event. The Archbishop of Kothamangalam Diocese, Mar George Madathikandathil, inaugurated the meeting and addressed the gathering.Dr. Jinu Arushi, Founder and CEO of Xceptional Learning, presented the digital learning project designed for children with intellectual challenges. Smart Books, the digital learning tools, were distributed to the children, and she spoke about how these tools can support the development of the children.Dr. Susamma George and Mr. Albin A. S. conveyed their felicitations at the meeting. PTA President Mr. Sunny Joseph delivered the vote of thanks.

Praveshanolsavam 2K25

St. John of God Special School marked the joyful beginning of the new academic year with Praveshanolsavam 2K25 on June 10, 2025. The event was inaugurated by Sri. Daly Roy, Panchayat President, who formally opened the school year with warm wishes to students and staff. The programme was graced by the presence of Fr. Francis Mannaparambil, Director; Principal Mr. Dipu John; PTA President Mr. Sunny Joseph; PTA Vice President Mrs. Sussamma George; and Sr. Celin, Provincial of the Sisters of St. Camillus, India Province. Each shared inspiring messages, encouraging a year of growth, learning, and compassion. A special highlight of the day was the celebration of 10 years of dedicated service by the Sisters of St. Camillus at the institution. Environment Day

On June 5th, St. John of God Centre, Velloor, Kottayam, observed World Environment Day by planting trees within the campus. The event aimed to spread awareness about environmental protection and sustainability. Staff and residents actively participated in the tree planting initiative, marking their commitment to a greener and healthier planet. The programme served as a reminder of our collective responsibility to care for nature and protect our environment for future generations.

Staff Tour 2025

On 23rd May 2025, the staff of St. John of God Centre embarked on a delightful tour to Wagamon, Kuttikkanam, and Parunthumpara in Kerala. The day was graced with light rain and misty fog, adding a magical charm to the scenic landscapes. The refreshing weather, breathtaking views, and the joy of being together made the trip a truly memorable one. Laughter, bonding, and shared moments of fun marked the day, offering a well-deserved break from routine and strengthening team spirit. Everyone returned with hearts full of joy and minds refreshed, carrying beautiful memories from a perfect day in nature’s lap.

"Wholeness" One month Programme

St. John of God Centre successfully concluded a one-month staff training programme centered on “Wholeness.” The programme aimed to enhance staff members' personal and professional growth through various sessions conducted by internal and external resource persons. A major highlight of the training was a session by Dr. Daniel Holzinger and Eva Maria from Austria, who led an insightful class on the ESDModel for Autistic Children, followed by a three-day intensive workshop tailored for the staff of the Autism Centre. One of the most memorable events during the programme was the visit of 30 staff members from St. John’s Kattappana, a brother institution of the Centre. The day was marked by shared learning, bonding, and celebration, reinforcing the spirit of unity and collaboration.

Annual Day & PTA Meeting Held at St. John of God Special School

Special Olympics Bharat’s Unified Sports & Inclusion Awareness Programme at St. John of God Centre

Kottayam, March 27, 2025: St. John of God Autism Centre hosted the Special Olympics Bharat Unified Sports & Inclusion Awareness Youth Programme, promoting inclusivity and sports participation for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The event featured an engaging floorball training session, fun games, and a motivational class conducted by Mrs. Anitta, a professor at St. Dominic’s College, Kanjirappally, along with social work students from the college. Their interactive sessions encouraged teamwork, confidence, and social integration among the participants.

The programme highlighted the importance of sports as a medium for inclusion and provided a platform for young athletes to develop skills while fostering friendships. The initiative was well-received, reflecting the commitment of St. John of God Centre towards empowering individuals through sports and education.

Smart Classroom Inaugurated at St. John of God Special School

St. John of God Special School marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of a new smart classroom, sponsored by South Indian Bank's CSR fund. The event took place on March 15, 2025, at the school premises, aiming to enhance learning opportunities for children with special needs. The newly introduced smart classroom is equipped with advanced educational tools designed to create an engaging and interactive learning environment. This initiative is expected to significantly improve the teaching methodologies and support the unique learning needs of the students.

Speaking at the event, the school principal expressed gratitude to South Indian Bank for their generous contribution, emphasizing how the new facilities will empower students by fostering improved cognitive and social skills. Representatives from South Indian Bank, school staff, and parents attended the event, marking a step forward in promoting inclusive education for children with special needs.
